Longtime readers of Corpreform will remember Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott. He's the class act who hired a bigshot Texas personal injury attorney when a tree fell on him while he was out jogging. The attorney got him a multimillion dollar settlement, which he partly used to fund his campaign for Attorney General. Get this - one of the planks of his campaign was tort "reform" and he demonized "liberal plaintiff personal injury attorneys."
Overlawyered tipped me off to an article in the Austin American-Statesman that describes the horrid conditions in some Texas facilities:
"A degenerative eye disease left a professor at Texas Tech University visually impaired. She asked the administration to place high-contrast reflective tape on the edges of the stairs in her building so she could safely navigate to her office. Tech refused. She sued under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) for failure to provide a reasonable accommodation. Representing the university, the Texas attorney general [Greg Abbott] moved to deny the professor her day in court. Cost of a roll of reflective tape? About $40."

Guys like Greg Abbott remind me of why I started Corpreform in the first place: Because the tort "reform" movement is full of rich, hypocritical scumbags who believe the only good lawsuit is the lawsuit they file.
Question of the day: Who is the bigger hypocrite, Greg "Nevermind my settlement" Abbott, or Rick "Nevermind my wife's obesity lawsuit" Santorum?
